On the night of September 6, 2015, 24-year-old Darnell C. Bolton of Moss Point, Mississippi, was shot and killed at the Fusion H2O Carwash on Jefferson Avenue. Bolton, a Moss Point High School graduate and U.S. Army veteran, reportedly stepped toward an argument at the busy self-service wash to try to calm the confrontation. Multiple shots were fired during the ensuing chaos; two friends were also struck and the incident was described by police as a triple shooting. Emergency responders took the victims to medical care, and Bolton was pronounced dead that night.
Moss Point police collected shell casings and interviewed witnesses, and within days a warrant was issued naming Roderick Murray as the primary suspect. U.S. Marshals assisted in the search. A man later captured at a Pascagoula hotel was reported as wanted in the case, a second suspect turned himself in, and another man, Antonio McKee, presented himself to police but was released when investigators said there was insufficient evidence to charge him. Public reports do not detail any subsequent court outcomes.
