Bridget Hall was 43 when she was shot to death at close range after answering a knock at her door on Vivian Merritt Street in Brookhaven, Mississippi, on the night of July 6, 2015. Two of her children were inside the home during the attack; her oldest daughter was in the driveway and her oldest son had just left for work. Hall was a mother of four, a phlebotomist, a former high school homecoming queen and cheerleader, and had attended Jackson State University on a singing scholarship. She was also organizing a Stop the Violence event at the time of her death and was known locally as a peacemaker with a celebrated singing voice.
Investigators and the family have focused on a possible link to a July 5, 2015, homicide of 25-year-old Kelcay Anthony Humphrey; the man arrested in Humphrey’s killing was Claudis D. Montgomery, whose brother Claude Montgomery was Bridget Hall’s boyfriend then. Hall’s family and police suspect her killing may have been retaliation connected to the earlier homicide, but no one has ever been arrested or charged in her murder and the case remains open and cold.
If anyone knew Bridget, her relationships, movements that week, or has information about who might have targeted her, please come forward.
