On the evening of April 11, 2015, officers in Greenville, Mississippi, were called to a violent scene outside the Shop and Save Store at 494 North Edison Street. Forty-year-old Darryl Harris was found with multiple gunshot wounds and, though gravely injured, was conscious long enough to identify the man he said shot him. Harris died the next day, April 12, 2015.
Police used Harris’s dying declaration to locate and arrest Leroy McCullar the following day. McCullar was initially charged with First Degree Murder; he later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of Second Degree Murder on February 21, 2017. The court sentenced him to 35 years, requiring 30 years served without early release or parole, followed by five years of probation. The District Attorney described McCullar as having been a menace to the community for over a decade prior to the conviction.
Does anyone have information about Harris’s activities around North Edison Street that evening or about witnesses at the Shop and Save?
