On the evening of Saturday, April 4, 2015, a mass shooting at the Nashway Apartments in Corinth, Mississippi, left 22-year-old Deonta Dwayne Herman dead. The scene drew a crowd of more than 100 people when an estimated 50 to 80 shots were fired; Herman was found deceased in a yard behind the complex. Another man, 25-year-old Ahmarus Rakim Swinney, was also fatally wounded and later died after being taken to a hospital. Investigators reported Herman was armed at the time, while Swinney was not.

The Corinth Police Department described the incident as connected to gang-related activity. Conflicting witness accounts and the sheer number of rounds fired complicated the initial investigation. An Alcorn County grand jury later returned indictments charging Marcus McGaha, 27, and Cedric Gunn, 27, each with one count of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the double homicide.

Did anyone in the area that night see something that might clarify how the shooting began?
