Reondricus Rogers was 24 when he was shot dead in Meridian, Mississippi, on the evening of December 15, 2014. Police responded around 6:15 p.m. to the 800 block of 25th Avenue and found Rogers with a single gunshot wound to the chest from a small-caliber handgun; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators quickly focused on two men from Montgomery, Alabama, identifying Leroy Lamont Lewis and Payton A. Bailey as persons of interest. Both were located and detained in Montgomery; Lewis was extradited to Meridian and charged with murder and aggravated assault, while Bailey faced two counts of accessory after the fact. Police said the shooting grew out of a dispute over a botched drug deal involving synthetic marijuana.

Lewis went to trial in March 2018. Witness testimony described a transaction that turned into an argument and then, prosecutors said, Lewis opening fire. After hearing evidence, the jury acquitted Lewis of murder; he had been held in custody for more than three years before the verdict. Does anyone have information about Rogers, the people involved, or that night in Meridian?
