Paul MacLeod, 71, was the eccentric proprietor of Graceland Too, a two-story home in Holly Springs converted into a round-the-clock museum devoted to Elvis Presley. On the night of Tuesday, July 15, 2014, 28-year-old Dwight David Taylor Jr. came to the door asking for money and, police say, attempted to force his way inside. MacLeod shot Taylor once in the chest, killing him just inside the doorway. MacLeod called 911, cooperated with investigators and was released without charges after saying he acted in self-defense.
Less than 48 hours later, on the morning of Thursday, July 17, MacLeod was found slumped in a chair on Graceland Too’s front porch and was pronounced dead. The Marshall County coroner reported no signs of foul play or trauma and indicated his death appeared to be from natural causes; an autopsy was ordered. No arrests were made in connection with MacLeod’s death.
Did anyone in the area have contact with either man in the days before the shooting who can add details about what led up to that night?
