On the night of September 7, 2013, 18-year-old Karol Annette Bolton was shot at a party at the O’Neal Road Apartments in North Gulfport. Bolton, a recent high school graduate studying at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and working at a local movie theater, was struck in the abdomen. Emergency services arrived at 10:18 p.m. and she was taken to a nearby medical center, where she was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. An autopsy attributed her death to a single gunshot wound.

Witnesses told police that two unidentified men fled the scene before officers arrived. Despite a large number of people present at the gathering, no arrests have been announced and no suspects have been publicly identified; the Gulfport Police Department continues to investigate. If anyone at the party or in the area that night has information about who those men were or what happened, please come forward.
