Edward John Kantzler, 70, was one of three elderly men found shot to death inside a Grass Lake, Michigan, residence on Fishville Road on August 22, 2021. Kantzler, known as Fast Eddie, was described as fun, loving, and eccentric. The other victims were Delmar Eugene Fraley, 80, and Michael George Pauli, 70.
Investigators focused on 43-year-old Zacharie Scott Borton after he was missing from the home and Kantzler’s 2006 Ford Explorer was gone. Borton was arrested the next evening in Grand Rapids, where he was already wanted on felonious assault and discharging a firearm into a building. He was charged with three counts of open murder in connection with the killings.
The jury trial introduced evidence including the use of a .40-caliber handgun. In May 2022 Borton was found guilty on two murder counts and other charges and received life without parole for a first-degree murder conviction; the judge described the killings as cold-blooded and said one victim had been hunted down and shot multiple times.
Did anyone in the area know Edward Kantzler or have information about the events that night?
