On the evening of July 21, 2017, 59-year-old Robert Carson Cook was shot inside his home on the 40 block of Oak Street in River Rouge, Michigan. The shooting happened about 8:05 p.m.; Cook suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, was taken to a nearby hospital, and later died of his injuries.

Police identified 33-year-old Justin Joseph Pruneau of River Rouge as a suspect. Authorities say Pruneau rode a bicycle to Cook’s house carrying a rifle concealed in a garbage bag, that an altercation took place inside, and that a neighbor saw a man later identified as Pruneau leave with a rifle under his arm and flee on the bicycle. Pruneau was arrested the same day and charged with open murder and felony firearm; he was arraigned in 25th District Court in Lincoln Park and remanded without bond.

Reports state the dispute was over the sale of pills and describe Cook as an alleged drug dealer. Does anyone have information about their relationship or what led up to that July 21 encounter?
