On the evening of July 26, 2016, 17-year-old Joshua Javen Phillips was found lying in the road in the 400 block of South 23rd Street in Buena Vista Township, Michigan, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound. His death was ruled a homicide and investigators from the Buena Vista Township Police Department opened an investigation.

Joshua was born July 9, 1999, and was a student in the Saginaw Public Schools. Family remembered him for a bright smile and a love of basketball and video games; he was described as a son, brother, uncle, and nephew whose loss left a large void for those close to him.

Investigators report difficulty developing the case because of limited witnesses and scarce evidence. No arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced and the case remains an open, unsolved homicide. Has anyone in the Buena Vista Township or Saginaw area seen or heard anything that could help bring justice for Joshua?
