On the evening of April 22, 2022, gunfire on the 400 block of West Park Avenue in Lindenwold, New Jersey, left 25-year-old Alvin Redd critically wounded shortly after 8 p.m. Officers responding to multiple 911 calls found Redd with a significant gunshot wound; he was taken to Jefferson Hospital-Stratford and pronounced dead just before 9 p.m. that same night. A 29-year-old Camden man was also hurt during a related physical altercation and sought treatment at the same hospital.
Investigators from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Lindenwold Police Department traced the shooting to 20-year-old Trayshawn Simpson of Camden. Simpson was located and arrested in New Castle, Delaware, on April 27, 2022, through a coordinated effort with U.S. Marshals fugitive task forces and was charged with first-degree murder; he was being held in Delaware pending extradition to New Jersey. The motive and the events leading up to the shooting remained under investigation.
