On the evening of January 19, 2022, 19-year-old Isaiah Williams of New Brunswick and 18-year-old Samore Edwards of Plainfield were found inside a parked vehicle on the 1300 block of Washington Avenue in Neptune, New Jersey, both suffering gunshot wounds. Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene; Williams was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
Investigators from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office and the Neptune and Keansburg police departments later arrested two men in connection with the double shooting. Authorities allege Gabriel J. Braithwaite, then 19, was the triggerman who ambushed the unarmed victims and that Jeron D. Dearin, then 22, served as the getaway driver. Braithwaite and Dearin were charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy and related weapons offenses.
Court records show both men pleaded guilty to charges related to the killings. Braithwaite admitted to two counts of first-degree murder and was sentenced to 40 years; Dearin pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and received five years. Did anyone in the Neptune or New Brunswick area see these two young men on January 19, 2022, or have information about the events that night?
