I am so glad there are more cameras in neighborhoods to help catch people that do things like this. I wonder what the motive was? Was this person a porch pirate and Tamar tried to stop him?

On September 8, 2021, at shortly after 2:00 p.m. in Plainfield, New Jersey, 36-year-old Tamar S. Harris of Newark was making a delivery for Amazon when a man approached him just outside his delivery van on the 200 block of Garfield Avenue. Plainfield officers found Harris suffering from a fatal gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Video recovered from the scene became important to investigators. The Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police, Union County Police and the Union County Sheriff’s Office worked the case and identified 26-year-old Plainfield resident Quahif Lane as the man who approached and fatally shot Harris. Lane was taken into custody without incident the afternoon after the shooting and was charged with first-degree homicide and two related second-degree weapons offenses; he was lodged in the Union County Jail.

If anyone knew Tamar Harris or saw activity on Garfield Avenue that afternoon, please share what you know with investigators.
