Benjamin Nord, 45, was shot and killed outside a small store on the 400 block of Liberty Street near West Fifth Street in Plainfield, New Jersey, on the evening of November 11, 2018. Plainfield patrol units found him with multiple gunshot wounds; he was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 p.m. that night.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the Union County Homicide Task Force, the Plainfield Police Division and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit investigated. Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $10,000, and investigators released a video of a suspect in January 2019, but no arrests have been announced and the case remains active. Nord’s sister, Antonia Nord, said he was caring and loving and that the family struggled with funeral expenses after his sudden death.
