On the morning of Sunday, August 26, 2018, the body of 46-year-old Michael S. Boyd was found in a vacant lot in the 100 block of Matthews Street in Orange, New Jersey. He had sustained an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene before noon.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Orange Police Department opened a homicide investigation and detectives from the Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force handled the inquiry. In the days after the discovery officials described the investigation as active and appealed to the public for information, but no motive or persons of interest were publicly identified.
There have been no further official updates about arrests or suspects in connection with Boyd’s death in the material provided, and the case appears to have gone quiet. Does anyone in the area remember seeing or hearing anything on that August morning that could help investigators?
