Brian Pierre, 27, of Roselle, was shot multiple times in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on East St. Georges Avenue in Linden, New Jersey, on the evening of Tuesday, April 17, 2018. He died while being transported to a local hospital. The Union County Homicide Task Force led the investigation with assistance from several local departments.
An 18-year-old from Roselle, Darwens Cadet, was arrested the morning after the shooting and charged with murder and related weapons offenses. A grand jury later indicted him, and a jury found him guilty in February 2020; he was sentenced to 40 years in prison. An appeals court overturned the conviction in July 2024, citing errors in the police questioning after Cadet invoked his right to remain silent and problems with the trial judge’s rulings, and ordered a new trial.
Are there witnesses or anyone with information about the April 17, 2018 shooting who can help fill gaps in the timeline or location details?
