On a summer afternoon in July 2016 in Penns Grove, New Jersey, 24-year-old Jakaiye Ingram was fatally shot after a roadside dispute. Ingram was driving a Volkswagen Jetta with his girlfriend and their 1-year-old son when a verbal argument with a pedestrian identified as Hakeem O. Williams of Philadelphia escalated. Williams produced a handgun and fired multiple shots, killing Ingram.
After the shooting, Williams got into the Jetta and drove off with the couple’s infant still in the back seat. Hours later the vehicle was found abandoned in Philadelphia and the child was inside, unharmed and still in his car seat. Williams surrendered to authorities in Philadelphia the next day and was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. A jury found Hakeem O. Williams guilty on all counts, including the murder of Jakaiye Ingram and the kidnapping of the child, in April 2018.
Are there details about the July 2016 confrontation or witnesses in Penns Grove that anyone can share?
