On the night of June 25, 2014, 19-year-old Brendan Tevlin was driving home in West Orange, New Jersey, after finishing his freshman year at the University of Richmond. While stopped at a traffic light, his Jeep was surrounded by three men and one of them, Ali Muhammad Brown, opened fire, striking Tevlin multiple times. Brown then pushed Tevlin’s body onto the passenger-side floor, drove the vehicle to a nearby apartment complex and took personal items. Tevlin was found dead in his family’s vehicle in the parking lot.

Investigators arrested Brown after tracing leads to a makeshift camp in a wooded area in West Orange; two alleged accomplices, Jeremy Villagran and Eric Williams, were also arrested but later had charges dropped. Ballistics linked the gun used in Tevlin’s killing to three other murders in Seattle. During a confession, Brown described the killings as part of a jihad to avenge U.S. foreign policy. Brown pleaded guilty to murder, carjacking, robbery and terrorism charges and received life without parole.

If anyone knew Brendan’s routines or saw his Jeep in West Orange that night, please share what might help fill gaps in the timeline.
