Sean Agosto, a 16-year-old Hispanic male, was shot and killed on July 28, 2008 in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood. Contemporaneous reports say he was struck twice in the chest and managed to stagger across the street before collapsing against a fence, where officers found him a short time later. He died the same day.
Early reporting linked the killing to a wave of youth shootings on the city’s Northwest Side and suggested a possible gang-related motive; family members disputed any gang involvement, noting Sean had been participating in a neighborhood outreach program aimed at steering youth away from gangs.
Did anyone in Albany Park at the time have information about Sean’s last movements or about tensions in the neighborhood that week?
