John Gilbride, 34, an airline employee, was found shot to death in his car in the Ryan’s Run apartment complex in Maple Shade, New Jersey, in the early hours of a September morning in 2002. A resident reported a car with its engine running and headlights on; officers discovered Gilbride in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and chest from an automatic weapon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time he was killed Gilbride was involved in a contentious custody battle with his ex-wife over their six-year-old son. The day of the killing was the day he was scheduled to have his first unsupervised visit. His ex-wife was identified as a member of the radical group MOVE, which had publicly vowed to oppose the court order and had recently reinforced its Philadelphia headquarters. Gilbride’s father has publicly accused MOVE of involvement; MOVE has denied that.

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office says the investigation remains open, but no suspects have been named and no arrests have been announced. Does anyone have information about John Gilbride, his case, or his scheduled visit that could help investigators?
