DSean Perry was a 22-year-old student and linebacker for the University of Virginia football team who was killed on the night of November 13, 2022, in Charlottesville. He and two teammates, Devin Chandler and Lavel Davis Jr., were fatally shot on a charter bus returning from a class field trip to Washington, D.C. Two other students were wounded in the same incident.
The three players died of gunshot wounds to the head; the manner of death was ruled a homicide. The campus was placed under a 12-hour lockdown while law enforcement searched for a suspect. Authorities identified fellow student and former team member Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. as the suspected shooter; he was on the same field trip and reportedly opened fire as the bus was parking near a campus garage. A handgun was later recovered near the bus and Jones was taken into custody the following day.
Perry’s family and coaches remembered him as kind, artistic, and full of potential; his parents described him as a loving, giving, caring, God-fearing young man. He was a graduate of Gulliver Preparatory Academy in Pinecrest, Florida, where he played football.
If anyone has information about Perry, his life, or the events that night, please share what you know.
