Francis Frankie Breit, an older man from Eagle River in Vilas County, Wisconsin, is listed as an endangered, disabled missing person who disappeared in the summer of 1990. His son reported him missing after months without contact and mutual friends also hadn’t heard from him. Bank records show no activity on the account that received his Social Security after July 1990, which helped establish the disappearance timeframe.

He is described as a white male with gray or partly gray hair, brown eyes, wearing eyeglasses and a full beard when he vanished. Distinguishing features include old healed fractures and a pronounced bull-legged walk. He typically wore red jumpsuits in warm months and red snowmobile suits in cold months, and was said to have very strange habits. He may have used the names Frank, Frankie, Knauer, or Frank August.

The case remains an open missing-person investigation. If anyone remembers seeing him after July 1990 or has information about the names he used, please contact the Eagle River Police Department or the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office.
