The official entry records his disappearance as falling into the water and sinking after the boarding attempt.

Barker was described as a White male, 5 feet 8 inches, about 155 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, scars on his left hand and right wrist. He was reportedly wearing blue jeans, a black leather jacket and cowboy boots. He was known by the names Mitch Jay Barker, Mich Barker and Mitch Barber. The Alaska State Troopers investigational file number is 900027668; his remains have never been recovered and the case remains classified as a missing person.
