Keon Lee Singleton, 18, was fatally shot the night of July 9, 2022, during a family-hosted gathering on Rose Drive near the Mallard Crossing area in Lawrenceville, Virginia. Hundreds of people reportedly attended the event. Brunswick County first responders found Singleton shortly after 11 p.m. lying at the side of the road with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene and the medical examiner treated the death as a homicide.
Known as BayBay to friends and family in White Plains, Virginia, Singleton’s death deeply affected his community. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office appealed to witnesses for information, noting the large crowd that night and asking anyone with tips to come forward. Initial reports indicated no arrests had been made, and investigators described the case as an active homicide investigation seeking assistance to determine what happened.
Did anyone who was at the gathering or who lives nearby see or hear anything that could help explain the shooting?
