On the evening of July 6, 2022, 69-year-old Marsha June Norton was shot and killed in her home on Burke View Drive in Gloucester, Virginia. Deputies from the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office responded after a third party called 911 relaying that a man had admitted to shooting and killing his wife.

Officers arrived at about 6:09 p.m. and found Marsha Norton deceased inside the residence. Her husband, Tony Howard Norton, was detained at the scene and a firearm was recovered. He was later charged with second-degree murder and the use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony and was being held without bond in the Gloucester County Jail. Authorities described the incident as isolated and said there was no further danger to the public; Marsha Norton’s family was notified of her death.
