In the early morning hours of June 28, 2022, 35-year-old Amanda Horner was shot and killed in Hopewell, Virginia. Police found Horner and a 33-year-old companion, Jerrell Lynwood, inside a vehicle that had crashed into a parked SUV near South 13th Avenue and Buren Street. Both victims had fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported two cars speeding through the neighborhood shortly before the crash. Occupants of one vehicle allegedly opened fire on the car carrying Horner and Lynwood, which lost control and crashed. After the crash, someone from the assailant vehicle reportedly approached and fired additional shots before fleeing in a light-colored sedan with its headlights off.

No arrests have been announced and the Hopewell Police Department says the investigation is active. Amanda’s sister, Ashley Horner, has publicly asked for information; Amanda was a mother to three children.
