Jonathan Swoope, a 20-year-old resident of Chicago, was shot and killed on June 15, 2008, while working as a DJ at a birthday party in the Morgan Park neighborhood. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and pronounced dead at 4:32 a.m. the next morning.
An autopsy ruled the cause of death a gunshot wound to the back and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide. The shooting occurred amid a notably violent weekend in Chicago, drawing attention to the city’s struggles with gun violence that put young people and community gatherings at risk.
If anyone attended that party or has information about the shooting, please come forward with what was seen or heard.
