On April 17, 2022, 32-year-old Alexander Meade of Norfolk, Virginia, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 3300 block of Daytona Drive near the Lynnhaven section of Virginia Beach. Police were called shortly after 6:45 p.m.; Meade was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead soon after arrival. The Virginia Beach Police Department opened a homicide investigation.

By May 30, 2024, legal proceedings had advanced beyond the initial arrest.
