Donny Shermaine Martin, 44, was shot and killed during a midday dispute in Martinsville, Virginia. On March 11, 2022, Martin was in the parking lot of Kuntry Boyz Tires on AL Philpott Highway when an argument with another man escalated; around 12:30 p.m. he was shot multiple times in the torso. Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office found Martin grievously wounded and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia for autopsy.

Investigators identified 39-year-old Stephen Darnell Holland of Axton as the person who argued with Martin and, according to the case, produced a firearm and shot him multiple times. Holland was arrested by Henry County investigators and held without bond; he has been charged with first-degree murder and with using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office or provide tips anonymously through Crimestoppers.
