On October 13, 2021, about 3:15 p.m., 23-year-old Nicholas Kyle Joseph was shot multiple times while in his car on Johnson Street in Onancock, Virginia. A single-vehicle crash was reported after the gunfire; Joseph was transported to a hospital and died the next day, October 14, 2021.
Investigators tied the shooting to an attempted robbery linked to Joseph’s involvement in selling marijuana. Police found bagged marijuana, three firearms, and spent casings inside his vehicle. Three teenagers were charged in connection with the case: a 15-year-old (name withheld), and 17-year-olds Daniel David Douglas and Jordan Eric Ames. Court filings say Ames was connected to the scene by doorbell-camera footage and forensic evidence, and Douglas admitted supplying the firearms.
Both older teens were prosecuted as adults and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, attempted robbery, and related firearms counts, with prison terms imposed. Does anyone in the area have information about Johnson Street on that afternoon or about Joseph’s activities leading up to October 13, 2021?
