Chinonso Chiboy Ibe, 39, was shot and killed in Fredericksburg on the night of June 26, 2021. Emergency dispatchers received reports of a shooting at about 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Wellington Road. Officers found Ibe with a gunshot wound and he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

By the next morning, police had arrested 45-year-old Jacquin Davis of Fredericksburg in connection with the killing. Investigators say Ibe had gone to Davis’s home to confront him before the confrontation turned deadly. Davis was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and was being held without bond pending arraignment in Fredericksburg General District Court.
