Keyon Speedy Lamar Turner was 22 when he was shot on the afternoon of February 5, 2021, on Mineola Drive off Indian River Road in Virginia Beach. Police found him with life-threatening injuries; he was taken to a nearby hospital and died of his wounds. Family and friends remembered him as someone who brought smiles and joy to those around him.
Virginia Beach police arrested 21-year-old Treshaun Lamont Snipes just after midnight following the shooting. Investigators used Ring doorbell footage from a residence near the scene to identify Snipes. Officers found a firearm on him at his workplace that forensic testing matched to shell casings recovered at the scene. A police dog located muddy clothes in the woods near the scene that were identified as Snipes’s. A Virginia Beach Circuit Court Judge later found Snipes guilty of first-degree murder, use of a firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon; sentencing was scheduled for a later date.
If anyone knew Keyon Turner or has information about that afternoon, please come forward.
