In the early morning of December 27, 2020, 32-year-old Jamarcus Brad Washington was shot and found unresponsive on the sidewalk in the 900 block of South First Street in Charlottesville. Officers arrived after a call for shots fired just before 1:00 AM; Washington was pronounced dead at the scene.

Known to friends and family as Buck Nasty, Washington was an active member of his neighborhood and volunteered at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church. He helped organize local events and was a longtime resident of the South First Street public housing community. His death was one of four gun-related homicides in Charlottesville in 2020.

The Charlottesville Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward; Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for tips that lead to an arrest. Does anyone in the community have information that could help bring answers for Jamarcus’s family?
