Wendell Scott Morris was 29 when he was shot and killed in Lynchburg, Virginia, on the evening of December 7, 2020. Officers responding to reports of gunfire at the James Crossing Apartments found Morris with a gunshot wound; first responders were unable to save him and he died at the scene.
Detectives report that the fatal shooting followed events the day before, when Morris was involved in an altercation during a dice game and was reportedly assaulted and robbed of his winnings. An argument the next day escalated into the shooting that ended his life.
The Lynchburg Police Department identified persons of interest and initially sought to question two people. An arrest followed when 18-year-old Demijah Kyjaun Spinner was charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with Morris’s death.
If anyone knew Wendell, witnessed the December 6–7 events at James Crossing Apartments, or has information that could help, please come forward.
