On November 24, 2020, at about 2:25 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of Queens Court in Herndon and found 30-year-old Julian Rashad Martin lying in the street with grave injuries. Martin, a Black man from Reston, was taken to a Reston hospital and died of his wounds.

The investigation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Jason Byrd of Herndon, who was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Detectives later identified Jason Byrd’s brother, 20-year-old Jameel Byrd, also of Herndon, as an alleged accomplice; he was arrested and charged with being an accessory to second-degree murder and robbery and was held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center as the inquiry continued.

Does anyone with information about Julian, the incident on Queens Court, or either of the men involved want to come forward?
