Eriq D. Coleman, 25, was shot and killed on the evening of November 12, 2020 in the 9500 block of Cattail Road in Chesterfield, Virginia. Chesterfield County police found Coleman at the scene and he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Detectives identified a suspect within days. On November 16, 2020 a detention order was issued for a 17-year-old male who was charged with second-degree murder. Authorities located and arrested the teenager at a residence in South Carolina the same day; he was held there pending extradition to Virginia.
