Wayne Lamont Starks Jr., 25, known to family as Lil Weezy, was fatally shot in Winchester, Virginia, in the early morning of July 7, 2020. Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call about an accidental shooting at a Diamond Court residence around 2:05 a.m. and found Starks in the back of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his neck and throat. He was taken to Winchester Medical Center, where he died.

Witnesses said the shooting happened inside the house’s basement and bystanders had moved Starks to the vehicle in an attempt to get him to the hospital. At least five other people were inside the residence when deputies processed the scene. Investigators recovered a Walther PPS 9mm semi-automatic pistol believed to be the weapon, additional firearms, and possible narcotics and drug paraphernalia; search warrants were obtained. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said Starks’ death would be treated as a homicide until evidence indicated otherwise. No arrests or charges have been publicly announced and no suspect has been identified.
