A family in Midland, Virginia, was shattered on Valentine’s Day 2020 when 6-year-old Wyatt Norwood was found shot to death inside his home on Elk Run Road. The child’s father, Joshua Norwood, returned from work with flowers and, upon entering the house, encountered gunfire and suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Joshua then discovered his wife, 34-year-old Jennifer Norwood, and their son Wyatt, both deceased from gunshot wounds.
Authorities identified the couple’s older son, 17-year-old Levi Norwood, as the suspect after he confronted and shot his father and fled the scene. A manhunt led to his capture the next day in North Carolina; officials reported he had attempted to shoplift and was found with a 2007 Toyota Camry that had been reportedly stolen. Levi was charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Jennifer and Wyatt.
The community lost a young child and a mother in this violence, and the father survived with a serious gunshot injury. If anyone saw activity on Elk Run Road around February 14, 2020, or has information about the case, please come forward.
