Sequanae Jahkeem Roper was 24 when he was found shot to death on Prince William Court in Virginia Beach on January 11, 2020. Police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Roper fatally wounded; another man from the same shooting went to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators identified a possible suspect vehicle and briefly detained two people for questioning. An arrest followed: 20-year-old Zhakel Tyrese Lane was taken into custody, but the charges were for possessing a firearm while in possession of drugs, not for Roper’s murder. Lane was later sentenced to a year and a half on those weapon and drug charges.
No one has been publicly charged with or convicted of killing Roper, and the central question of who shot him remains unanswered. If anyone has information about the shooting or the possible suspect vehicle, please come forward.
