Just before midnight on October 9, 2019, police in Alexandria, Virginia responded to reports of a possible shooting in the 300 block of South Reynolds Street and found 21-year-old De’shon Jenkins with an upper-body wound. Known by his stage name King Love, Jenkins was taken to a local hospital and died of his injuries on October 11, 2019. The city recorded this as its second homicide of the year.
A GoFundMe established after his death said Jenkins was a devoted father to a young daughter and was reportedly protecting his mother and child at the time of the incident. The Alexandria Police Department opened a homicide investigation, asked the public for information, and as of the latest reports no arrests or suspect details have been released. A candlelight vigil was held October 18, 2019, to honor him.
If anyone has information about the shooting or remembers activity on South Reynolds Street that night, please come forward to the police.
