On March 2, 2019, in a Virginia Beach home on Hunting Horn Way, 37-year-old Vinicius Freire Carneiro was shot and killed shortly after 3 a.m. Police found Carneiro with gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene. A 53-year-old man, Dusan M. Naumovic, was at the home and taken into custody for questioning.
Naumovic, a physics and math teacher, was later charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and held without bond. His family and defense said he believed Carneiro was an intruder; Naumovic’s wife said Carneiro was in a relationship with her, and the defense says Naumovic was sleeping in his autistic son’s room, was awakened by noises, opened his wife’s bedroom door, turned on the light and within seconds fired the fatal shots at a man he had never seen before.
What information do readers have about Carneiro’s last hours or about events inside that house that night?
