Andrew J. Wilson was 25 when he was found dead in Bristol, Virginia, on December 8, 2018. Authorities initially described the discovery as suspicious; an autopsy later showed multiple injuries from a physical assault and that he died from gunshot injuries, and investigators reclassified the case as a homicide.
Police identified a person of interest who was seen near Wilson’s home the night of the killing and who had a reported history of violent behavior. That man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. At trial the prosecution presented witness testimony and forensic reports; a jury found the defendant guilty of second-degree murder and he received a lengthy prison sentence.
