Amber Ross, 35, of Roanoke, Virginia, died on May 19, 2018, from a gunshot wound sustained during a robbery at a residence on Overland Drive in the Cave Spring area of Roanoke County. She had helped plan the robbery and exchanged text messages with one of the perpetrators, Aaron Witcher, providing information about the house and its occupants to facilitate the crime.

The robbery went wrong when Witcher entered the home and struggled with the homeowner. During the altercation his gun accidentally discharged; the single bullet struck Ross in the neck and lodged in a wall behind her. Prosecutors described the shooting as unintentional. Witcher, 28 at the time, was charged with second-degree murder, robbery, and two gun charges. A 17-year-old male who accompanied Witcher and a woman, Shamby Walker, were also implicated; Andrew Jeffers was identified as the getaway driver and was sought on related charges.

If anyone knew Amber, her whereabouts before the robbery, or has information about the planning of this crime, please share what you know.
