James Daniel McDonald was 26 when he was last seen by a family member on May 15, 2018, in the Chantilly/Clifton area of Fairfax County, Virginia. Family reported him missing on May 19, and his body was found two days later on May 21 in a wooded area in the 6100 block of Union Village Drive in Clifton.
Authorities described his death as suspicious and said he sustained trauma to his upper body. Graffiti near the recovery site carried the message RIP sucker, alone. The Fairfax County Police Department opened a homicide investigation and awaited medical examiner findings to determine the official cause and manner of death. No suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced.
Anyone who knew James, his movements in mid‑May 2018, or who may have seen activity around Union Village Drive that week is asked to come forward with information.
