Chazerey D. Moseley, 28, of Chesterfield County, Virginia, was found dead on October 27, 2017, slumped behind the wheel of his own car on Old Zion Hill Road. A neighbor had reported the vehicle as improperly parked; an officer checked the registration and went to the nearby home to ask someone to move the car. Family members who came outside to do that discovered Moseley and called police. Investigators determined he had been shot to death, with some reports saying he was hit about a dozen times.
The killing unsettled the neighborhood and tension flared even during a vigil held in his memory. Early public statements did not include a motive or a named suspect. In March 2018 a Chesterfield County grand jury returned an indictment charging Christopher W. Bryant of Richmond with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon; reporting at the time also linked Bryant to robbery and additional firearm counts.
Did anyone in the area have contact with Chazerey around October 27, 2017, or notice anything unusual that morning?
