Demetrius Lee Brown was an 18-year-old who was fatally shot on the evening of April 5, 2017, in Blairs, Virginia. The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office opened an immediate homicide investigation into his death.
A home surveillance video supplied by Demetrius’s father became a pivotal piece of evidence. Investigators used footage from that camera to identify Phillip Michael Giles as a suspect and later connect him to the crime. Giles was arrested and faced legal proceedings related to Brown’s death; those actions flowed directly from the video evidence.
What details about the evening of April 5, 2017, or the surveillance footage might help clarify what happened?
