Todd Lee Barksdale, 51, was shot and killed at a residence on Main Street in Altavista, Virginia, on November 18, 2016. Police from Altavista and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about the shooting and found him deceased from a gunshot wound. The incident was described as domestic in nature; at the time Todd was visiting the home of his wife, Kimberly Mayhew Barksdale, and the couple were not living together. They had two children.
Authorities arrested Kimberly Barksdale, then 48, and initially charged her with second-degree murder. The case later went to trial, where she was convicted of first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony; in January 2020 she was sentenced to life plus three years. Todd was remembered by family and friends for his love of the outdoors, including bow hunting, fishing, and beekeeping; his funeral was at Penuel Baptist Church and he was buried in the church cemetery.
Did anyone in the community know Todd’s routines or have information about that day at the Main Street residence?
