Errick Oliver, 49, was shot and killed on November 14, 2017, in East Oakland at about 6:53 p.m. on the 1300 block of 90th Avenue. Several witnesses identified Orlando Moore as the shooter. Moore, then 43 and with six prior felony convictions, was initially charged with murder; he later pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and admitted possessing a firearm during the incident. He was sentenced to 13 years in state prison.

Oliver was born in Selma, Alabama, attended Castlemont High School in Oakland, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. The shooting’s motive was not disclosed by authorities.
