A domestic dispute in Norman, Virginia, ended with two deaths and left a small community reeling. On June 7, 2016, 74-year-old James Stewart was shot and killed after an estranged husband, 49-year-old Willis N. Walker Jr., pursued his wife to Stewart’s home. Walker forced his way inside, shot Stewart, then located and assaulted his estranged wife; a second woman in the house hid and called 911.

Deputies from the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find Walker armed with a shotgun. He refused repeated commands to drop the weapon and advanced toward officers while threatening them. A deputy fired, and Walker died at the scene. Stewart was killed during the intrusion; Walker’s estranged wife was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No deputies were injured. The Virginia State Police are handling the investigation.

If anyone knew James Stewart or was in the area that night, does any detail about the sequence of events or the people involved still need clarifying?
