On the evening of April 29, 2016, 35-year-old Shaun Bernard Johnson was found fatally shot inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 1100 block of Old Williamsburg Road in Sandston, Virginia, near Richmond International Airport. Neighbors reported hearing five or six gunshots around 8:30 p.m.; Johnson was visiting a friend at the time and there were children inside the residence. Family described him as a devoted father to several young children who didn’t bother anybody. Some residents said there had been increased activity around the home in the days before the shooting.

Henrico County Police opened a homicide investigation into Johnson’s death. On August 4, 2016, investigators arrested Jarvis Bacola Williams, 47, of Henrico County, and charged him with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
